The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illness until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel takes over. This class is fully in-person and will take place at Rocky Hill High School Pool.
Prerequisites: You must be a proficient swimmer and be at least 15 years old by the final scheduled class. At the first in-person class you must successfully complete 3 swim tests (300 yard continuous swim, treading water for 2 minutes, and a timed brick retrieval) to continue with the course. If you are unable to complete the required swim test you will receive a full refund.
