Ella Fitzgerald
The History for Fun series reflects the lighter side of history using Powerpoint technology.  Joe Ouellette is a member of the Connecticut Historic Society.

Join Joe for a special tribute to Ella Jane Fitzgerald and celebrate Juneteenth 2023.  She was an American jazz singer, sometimes referred to as the "First Lady of Song", "Queen of Jazz" and "Lady Ella".  She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.  We'll first take you through her struggles growing up, then maturing to the "Queen of Soul" with such greats as Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and other greats.  Don't miss the fun.

Program will be held on Monday, June 19 from 1:00-2:00pm.  Program is free, but registration is required.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
