BEGINNER GROUP: In a group setting students will learn the basics of the ukulele and how to play simple songs in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Topics will include identifying parts of the ukulele, how to tune the instrument, how to play notes and chords, strum patterns and understanding music theory as it relates to the ukulele.
Required course materials: Ukulele, a tuning device (clip on or free app on phone/tablet) and a pocket folder for handouts. The Music Store (2315 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill) will put together a package deal for seniors which will include a ukulele and tuner for $50.
CONTINUING GROUP: Using skills learned in the Beginner Group students will learn additional chords and strumming techniques as applied to songs covered in this 6 week course. Participants will learn how to read ukulele tab and understand music theory as it relates to the ukulele. Prerequisite: Beginner Ukulele class or by instructor recommendation.
