Join historian Dan MacNeil for an exploration into the intriguing history of Old NewGate Prison & Copper Mine, located in East Granby, Connecticut. What is known within the local lexicon simply as “Old NewGate,” the property is the site of the first chartered copper mine within the present-day United States, which later served as the first state prison in Connecticut.
The program will cover roughly three centuries of history at Old NewGate. This program will serve as an enlightening adventure into a vital and infinitely fascinating portion of Connecticut history!
