Diwali, the Festival of Lights, celebrates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. The five day festival is observed with the lighting of clay lamps (Diyas) and other decorative lights, exchanges of sweets and gifts, and the creation of colorful floor designs called rangoli, symbolizing inner spiritual light and welcoming prosperity.
