*Lunch Program - *Lunch Program - July The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up Monday to Friday from 12:00-12:30pm. Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and a big thank you to Big Y for their generous dessert donations! Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. Please alert staff when checking in for lunch +HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS who have mastered a smooth transition from disposable products to our current upgraded serving system. Clearing, scraping and stacking our "real" lunch plates, cups and utensils is a tremendous amount of work. You are truly appreciated. Cost for lunch: $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents. Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program. Games are open to Senior Center members and facilitated by volunteers. Program is free and registration is required. Days and times: Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00am-12noonThursday, 1:00-4:00pmMah Jongg for Beginners: Learn to play the American version of Mahjongg, a brain stimulating tile game of strategy as well as an excellent memory exercise. You will learn about the tiles, how to decode the card and all the rules to play the game. The American version has 152 tiles that are drawn and discarded until one player secures a winning hand. *Pinochle - *Pinochle PINOCHLE is a bidding, melding and trick playing game using a unique deck of 48 cards consisting of 2 sets of 9-Ace in hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. This actively engages cognitive functions like short-term memory and concentration. A general knowledge of the game is preferred. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. Please alert staff when checking in for lunch +HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS who have mastered a smooth transition from disposable products to our current upgraded serving system. Days and times: Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00am-12noonThursday, 1:00-4:00pmMah Jongg for Beginners: Learn to play the American version of Mahjongg, a brain stimulating tile game of strategy as well as an excellent memory exercise. You will learn about the tiles, how to decode the card and all the rules to play the game. The American version has 152 tiles that are drawn and discarded until one player secures a winning hand. *Lunch Program - *Lunch Program - July The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up Monday to Friday from 12:00-12:30pm. Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and a big thank you to Big Y for their generous dessert donations! Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. Please alert staff when checking in for lunch +HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS who have mastered a smooth transition from disposable products to our current upgraded serving system. Clearing, scraping and stacking our "real" lunch plates, cups and utensils is a tremendous amount of work. You are truly appreciated. *Kokadama Workshop - *Kokadama Workshop Jeff The Plant Guy will share his unique perspective on Kokadama, an ancient art form that encircles the root with moss instead of a grow pot. You will create your very own Kokadama in this hands on workshop. All materials are included as well as a short presentation on the history of Kokadama. He will take you on a journey from its humble beginnings to the present, providing simple ways to keep your plant alive and flourishing. He's funny, historic, sometimes dramatic and entertaining. You might learn a thing or two about keeping your indoor plants alive. If you have a questions about a specific plant please bring a picture, leaf, cutting or the whole plant for an assessment by Jeff The Plant Guy. *Pinochle - *Pinochle PINOCHLE is a bidding, melding and trick playing game using a unique deck of 48 cards consisting of 2 sets of 9-Ace in hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. PINOCHLE is considered good for memory and focus as it requires players to remember card values, track their hand, and strategize their moves. This actively engages cognitive functions like short-term memory and concentration. A general knowledge of the game is preferred. The first few weeks of the program will serve as a refresher for those who have not played in a while. *Lunch Program - *Lunch Program - July The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up Monday to Friday from 12:00-12:30pm. Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and a big thank you to Big Y for their generous dessert donations! Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. Please alert staff when checking in for lunch +HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS who have mastered a smooth transition from disposable products to our current upgraded serving system. Clearing, scraping and stacking our "real" lunch plates, cups and utensils is a tremendous amount of work. You are truly appreciated. Cost for lunch: $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents. Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. Pickleball - Youth and Adults - Intermediate/Advanced Adult Clinic Pickleball ClinicsThese Pickleball Clinics are led by professional Pickleball coaches. The youth program is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the sport while sparking interest at a young age. The beginner adult program will teach new players the fundamentals: basic rules of the sport, different types of shots, how to keep score, etc. The intermediate/Advanced program is for adult players already familiar with the sport and looking to improve their game. See individual activity descriptions for further detail. Please bring your own paddle and a water bottle. *Pinochle - *Pinochle PINOCHLE is a bidding, melding and trick playing game using a unique deck of 48 cards consisting of 2 sets of 9-Ace in hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. PINOCHLE is considered good for memory and focus as it requires players to remember card values, track their hand, and strategize their moves. This actively engages cognitive functions like short-term memory and concentration. A general knowledge of the game is preferred. The first few weeks of the program will serve as a refresher for those who have not played in a while. Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and a big thank you to Big Y for their generous dessert donations! Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. *Pinochle - *Pinochle PINOCHLE is a bidding, melding and trick playing game using a unique deck of 48 cards consisting of 2 sets of 9-Ace in hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. PINOCHLE is considered good for memory and focus as it requires players to remember card values, track their hand, and strategize their moves. This actively engages cognitive functions like short-term memory and concentration. A general knowledge of the game is preferred. The first few weeks of the program will serve as a refresher for those who have not played in a while. Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and a big thank you to Big Y for their generous dessert donations! Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones. Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible and anyone arriving after 12:30pm is considered a "no show". No refunds will be given. An account credit may be applied for medical reasons.A vegetarian option is available with advanced notice for those with religious or dietary restrictions. Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below. To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786, register at the office or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org. We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch and food is not allowed to be taken home. +Low sugar fruit cups are available for diabetics or for those looking for a healthier option. Please alert staff when checking in for lunch +HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS who have mastered a smooth transition from disposable products to our current upgraded serving system. *Mah Jongg - *Mah Jongg-drop in game-Thursday Mah Jongg Drop In game: This is a tile-based game of skill and strategy. A knowledge of the American Mah Jongg game is needed to play. Games are open to Senior Center members and facilitated by volunteers. Program is free and registration is required. Days and times: Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00am-12noonThursday, 1:00-4:00pmMah Jongg for Beginners: Learn to play the American version of Mahjongg, a brain stimulating tile game of strategy as well as an excellent memory exercise. You will learn about the tiles, how to decode the card and all the rules to play the game. The American version has 152 tiles that are drawn and discarded until one player secures a winning hand.
