POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out using lightly weighted exercise drumsticks. Designed for all fitness levels and easily modifiable, POUND provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin' out! The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up from Monday to Friday at 12noon.  Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and fresh fruit has been added to the menu through the generosity of West Side Market.  Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones.  Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible. A vegetarian option will be available for those with religious or dietary restrictions with advance notice.  Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below.  To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786 or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org.  We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch.Cost for lunch:  $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents.  Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program.  If you are able to contribute more for your own lunch or would like to donate towards a wonderful cause, please feel free to give any amount.  Your generosity is appreciated.

Tai Chi is a relaxing exercise comprised of a series of slow movements that give a sense of balance, clarity and relaxation.  Tai Chi helps to relax the body and mind, improves flexibility, and helps regulate the breath to create more vitality.  It is practiced in many countries as a daily exercise and relaxation regimen.  An 8 movement Qigong set is also taught along with the 24 form.  Focus will be on shifting the weight between steps and coordination of movements.  A short standing meditation will be offered at the end of each class if time permits.Dates:  Monday, June 5-July 31 (no class 7/3 and 7/31) **Last class for the session will be August 7Time: 1:00-2:00pmFee:  $36 members and $46 non-members Instructor:  Cynthia Hoag

Long-time Rocky Hill Basketball Coach, Brian Silkowski, is offering this educational and FUN basketball program for young girls currently residing in Rocky Hill in grades 3 and 4. Coach Silkowski has been a coach with Travel Basketball and the Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball League for ten years. He also coached AAU for five years. This program will focus on developing the fundamental skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting while working on more advanced skills including proper floor spacing and proper shooting form. This program is more than a clinic! A significant portion of each week will be used for scrimmaging and other advanced drills. The ultimate goal of the program is to help participants become more familiar and comfortable with proper game flow, along with more advanced basketball skills.

Mahjongg Drop In game:  This is a tile-based game of skill and strategy.  A knowledge of the game is needed to play on Wednesdays from 10:00am-12noon and Thursdays from 1:00-4:00pm.  Games are open to Senior Center members and facilitated by volunteers.  Program is free and registration is required for both days.  Mahjongg for Beginners class: Learn to play the American version of Mahjongg, a brain stimulating tile game of strategy as well as an excellent memory exercise.  You will learn about the tiles, how to decode the card and all the rules to play the game.  The American version has 152 tiles that are drawn and discarded until one player secures a winning hand.  The fee for the class includes your card.  Date and time:  Wednesday, May 24-June 28 from 10:00am-12noonFee:  $36 for members and $46 for non membersInstructors:  Lois Nitch and Kathryn Carle

Looking to become more fit or stay active?  Want to work out at a pace that works for you?  If you enjoy great music and international rhythms, you will love Zumba Gold!  This program was developed specifically for young-at-heart, fun loving adults. The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up from Monday to Friday at 12noon.  Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and fresh fruit has been added to the menu through the generosity of West Side Market.  Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones.  Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible. A vegetarian option will be available for those with religious or dietary restrictions with advance notice.  Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below.  To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786 or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org.  We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch.Cost for lunch:  $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents.  Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program.  If you are able to contribute more for your own lunch or would like to donate towards a wonderful cause, please feel free to give any amount.  Your generosity is appreciated.

Mahjongg Drop In game:  This is a tile-based game of skill and strategy.  A knowledge of the game is needed to play on Wednesdays from 10:00am-12noon and Thursdays from 1:00-4:00pm.  Games are open to Senior Center members and facilitated by volunteers.  Program is free and registration is required for both days.  Mahjongg for Beginners class: Learn to play the American version of Mahjongg, a brain stimulating tile game of strategy as well as an excellent memory exercise.  You will learn about the tiles, how to decode the card and all the rules to play the game.  The American version has 152 tiles that are drawn and discarded until one player secures a winning hand.  The fee for the class includes your card.  Date and time:  Wednesday, May 24-June 28 from 10:00am-12noonFee:  $36 for members and $46 for non membersInstructors:  Lois Nitch and Kathryn Carle

Tai Chi is a relaxing exercise comprised of a series of slow movements that give a sense of balance, clarity and relaxation.  Tai Chi helps to relax the body and mind, improves flexibility, and helps regulate the breath to create more vitality.  It is practiced in many countries as a daily exercise and relaxation regimen.  An 8 movement Qigong set is also taught along with the 24 form.  Focus will be on shifting the weight between steps and coordination of movements.  A short standing meditation will be offered at the end of each class if time permits.Dates:  Monday, June 5-July 31 (no class 7/3 and 7/31) **Last class for the session will be August 7Time: 1:00-2:00pmFee:  $36 members and $46 non-members Instructor:  Cynthia Hoag

The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up from Monday to Friday at 12noon.  Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and fresh fruit has been added to the menu through the generosity of West Side Market.  Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones.  Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible. A vegetarian option will be available for those with religious or dietary restrictions with advance notice.  Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below.  To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786 or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org.  We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch.Cost for lunch:  $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents.  Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program.  If you are able to contribute more for your own lunch or would like to donate towards a wonderful cause, please feel free to give any amount.  Your generosity is appreciated.

The Senior Center is serving a hot lunch for seniors age 55 years and up from Monday to Friday at 12noon.  Mitchell's Restaurant is the caterer and fresh fruit has been added to the menu through the generosity of West Side Market.  Share your noon time meal with old friends as well as making some new ones.  Reservations with payment must be made at least 3 business days in advance before 10:00am. Cancellations should be called in as early as possible. A vegetarian option will be available for those with religious or dietary restrictions with advance notice.  Menus are available in the Senior Center lobby, in the current issue of The Compass newsletter and below.  To register for lunch please call 860-258-2786 or sign up online at registrations.rhparkrec.org.  We cannot accommodate walk ins for lunch.Cost for lunch:  $5.00 for Rocky Hill residents and $10.00 for non-residents.  Being a member of the Senior Center does not reduce the fee.Our daily senior meal is subsidized by the Town of Rocky Hill and the fees we collect do not cover the expense of the program.  If you are able to contribute more for your own lunch or would like to donate towards a wonderful cause, please feel free to give any amount.  Your generosity is appreciated.

Funds raised benefit the Senior Center.Meets at 1:00pm on Fridays in the Art Studio.  Program is free, but you must pre-register. The crafters are looking for donations of artificial flowers, beads, old jewelry and any craft supplies.  Please drop off donations at the Senior Center office, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Funds raised benefit the Senior Center.Meets at 1:00pm on Fridays in the Art Studio.  Program is free, but you must pre-register. The crafters are looking for donations of artificial flowers, beads, old jewelry and any craft supplies.  Please drop off donations at the Senior Center office, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Tai Chi is a relaxing exercise comprised of a series of slow movements that give a sense of balance, clarity and relaxation.  Tai Chi helps to relax the body and mind, improves flexibility, and helps regulate the breath to create more vitality.  It is practiced in many countries as a daily exercise and relaxation regimen.  An 8 movement Qigong set is also taught along with the 24 form.  Focus will be on shifting the weight between steps and coordination of movements.  A short standing meditation will be offered at the end of each class if time permits.Dates:  Monday, June 5-July 31 (no class 7/3 and 7/31) **Last class for the session will be August 7Time: 1:00-2:00pmFee:  $36 members and $46 non-members Instructor:  Cynthia Hoag
