Practice: Each team will practice one hour per week. Practice days and times will depend on team placement, coach availability, and facility availability. Practices are scheduled Monday through Friday between 5:00–9:00 p.m. and will begin the week of November 30.
Practice day/time requests cannot be accommodated. Families should be prepared for their child to be assigned a practice on any weekday, Monday through Friday, within the designated practice window. Specific practice information will be provided once teams have been finalized.
Team Placement: Our goal is to create teams that are as fair and balanced as possible while providing a positive experience for all players.
Players will participate in an evaluation period that allows coaches to assess skill levels and assist with the team placement process. Teams are then created with input from coaches within each division, with consideration given to overall skill level and team balance.
Requests for specific coaches, teammates, or team placement will not be accepted or accommodated. This policy allows us to maintain a fair and consistent team-building process for all participants.
Once teams have been finalized, coaches will contact families with their child's team and practice information.
Games: League games are played on Saturdays. Each team will play 9 regular-season games, in addition to 1 preseason scrimmage.
The complete game schedule will be posted on the Parks & Recreation website prior to the start of the regular season.
Please note that games canceled due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may not be rescheduled.
Volunteer Coaches: Our Youth Basketball Program would not be possible without our dedicated volunteer coaches!
No prior coaching or basketball experience is required. Parks & Recreation provides coaches with resources and guidance to help plan practices, teach fundamental skills, and create a positive team environment.
Great youth coaches do more than teach the game. They help players build confidence, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, learn age-appropriate skills, and most importantly, have fun!
Volunteer coaches are needed for:
- Dunkers Basketball Clinic – Grades 1–2
- Youth Basketball League – Grades 3–8
We welcome new and returning coaches who are willing to dedicate a few hours each week to providing our players with a fun, safe, and memorable basketball experience.
All new and returning coaches must complete the requirements outlined in our Coach's Corner prior to the start of the season. Coaches for grades 3–8 are also required to attend the preseason coaches meeting.
Coach Appreciation:
As a thank-you for volunteering your time, coaches who successfully complete the season and remain in good standing with the Department will receive a $120 household account credit at the conclusion of the season, along with coach apparel.
